South Jersey Baseball: Tuesday, June 6, 2006 By Dan Loney (Trenton, NJ)- Shelley Duncan ripped a two-run homer in the 8th Inning to propel the Thunder to a 3-2 win over Bowie on Tuesday night. The win snapped a two-game losing skid for Trenton and moved them back to .500 (29-29). Trailing 2-1 in the 8th Inning, Thunder 2B Gabe Lopez led off the inning with a double. After a strikeout and a ground out, Duncan homered to left off Bowie's Nick McCurdy (1-1) for a 3-2 lead. It was his 11th home run of the season. The home run made a winner out of Trenton reliever Jeff Kennard, who allowed on unearned run in two innings. Kennard (1-0) allowed one hit with two strikeouts. Bowie (25-32) broke a 1-1 in the 7th Inning off Kennard. 2B Gerz Alvarez got an infield singl, stole 2nd Base and scored on an error by Lopez. Their only other run came off Thunder starter Jeff Karstens in the 5th Inning on a two-out single by 3B Tripper Johnson. Karstens allowed the one run on five hits over six innings. He added seven strikeouts. The Thunder took a 1-0 lead in the 5th Inning as they loaded the bases on three staright singles. C Omir Santos scored the run on a passed ball by Bowie C Ryan Hubele. Trenton and Bowie play an 11:05 AM game on Wednesday. Phil Hughes (2-2, 4.98) starts for the Thunder against the Baysox James Johnson (5-3, 4.23).
