South Jersey Baseball: Friday, May 26, 2006 By Dan Loney (Trenton, NJ)- Two Thunder errors in the top of the ninth led to an unearned run that gave Binghamton a 3-2 win on Friday night in the opener of a four-game series. The loss, combined with a New Britain win, drops Trenton back into 4th Place in the Northern Division. With the game tied at 2-2, B-Mets 3B Jay Caliguiri doubled off Trenton's J.B. Cox. SS Corey Ragsdale then reached on a throwing error by Thunder 3B Kevin Howard. Mets RF Ray Navarette hit a ground ball that started out as a double play, but ended with an errant throw from SS J.T. Stotts that scored pinch-runner Kevin Rios. The run was keyed by a strong "take-out" slide at 2nd Base by Ragsdale. Cox (1-2) took the loss allowed one unearned run in three innings of relief. Mets reliever Matt Lindstrom (1-0) earned the victory with 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Ivan Maldonado worked a 1-2-3 9th Inning for his 2nd save. Binghamton (21-27) jumped out with two runs in the 2nd Inning off Steven White. Navarette had an RBI single for the first run. C Yunir Garcia scored the 2nd run on a groundout. But Trenton (22-25) came back to tie the game with runs in the 4th and 5th Inning, including an RBI double by 2B Gabe Lopez. The series continues on Saturday at 7:05 PM. Phil Hughes (1-1, 3.91) starts for the Thunder. Either Mike Pelfrey (0-1, 4.03) or Willie Collazo (3-3, 2.25) wil start for Binghamton.
