South Jersey Baseball: Friday, May 19, 2006 By Dan Loney (Bowie, MD)- The Bowie Baysox got solid starting pitching from Adam Loewen and homers from C Sandy Madera and 1B Mario Delgado in a 6-1 win over Trenton on Friday night. The loss snapped Trenton's six-game win streak. Bowie (22-18) took the lead in the 3rd Inning off Thunder starter Tyler Clippard. Madera hit the first pitch of the inning over the left field wall for a solo homer and a 1-0 lead. RBI singles later in the inning from CF Jeff Fiorentino and RF Cory Keylor took the lead to 3-0. Trenton (17-22) got their only run in the 5th Inning off Loewen. With one out, CF Justin Christian walked, moved to 2nd Base on a passed ball, to 3rd Base on a fly out and scored on a wild pitch. Loewen (4-2) allowed one hit over six innings for the win. He walked four and struck out six. Gabe Lopez had one of two Trenton hits on the night, a leadoff double in the 6th Inning. Bowie took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth on a solo homer by Delgado and then added two more runs on a Tony Alvarez double in the 7th Inning. Clippard (1-6) allowed six runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings in the defeat. He walked four and struck out six. The series continues on Saturday at 7:05 PM. Jeff Karstens (0-0, 3.86) makes his second start since his recall from Columbus. Matt Bruback (1-2, 4.09) starts for Bowie.
