South Jersey Baseball: Tuesday, August 2, 2005 By Dan Loney (Manchester, NH)- Eric Duncan and Omir Santos hit homers to help the Thunder snap a five-game losing streak in a 5-3 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Tuesday night. The homers by Duncan and Santos came on consecutive pitches by Fisher Cats starter Ismael Ramirez in the 5th Inning. It was Duncan's 16th homer and Santos' 9th of the season. Ramirez allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings. New Hampshire (52-56) came back to tie the game with an RBI double by Ryan Roberts in the fifth and a solo homer from Ron Davenport in the seventh off Thunder starter Matt DeSalvo. He allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings with 10 strikeouts. Trenton (55-54) broke a 2-2 tie in the 8th Inning with an RBI triple by Michael Coleman off Fisher Cats reliever Bubbie Buzachero and a sacrifice fly by Eric Duncan off Jesse Carlson. Buzachero (4-3) took the loss allowing two runs in 2/3 inning. The Thunder carried a 5-2 lead into the 9th Inning, but the Fisher Cats got a run back on three straight hits, the third being an RBI single by Carlo Cota off Justin Pope. But Miguel Negron lined into a double play and Roberts struck out to end the game. Pope earned his 22nd save and preserved the win for Charlie Manning (4-2), who worked 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Trenton, now holding a 2 1/2 game lead over New Hampshire for 2nd Place and a playoff spot, will send Danny Borrell (1-0, 7.90) to mound in the third game of the series on Wednesday. David Purcey (0-1, 4.50) starts for the Fisher Cats. Game time is 6:35 PM.
