Trenton Thunder Director of Broadcasting

Bowie erased an early 4-0 deficit by scoring ten unanswered runs to beat the Thunder, 10-4, in front of 6,419 fans at Waterfront Park on Friday night.

Trenton (47-45) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings. The Thunder got back-to-back solo homers from 1B Shelley Duncan and C Omir Santos off Bowie starter Hayden Penn in the 1st Inning. A bases loaded walk to CF Colin Porter gave Trenton a 3-0 lead. S. Duncan added another solo blast, his league-leading 24th of the year, to make it 4-0. Penn allowed four runs (three earned) in three innings.

The Thunder had Yankees reliever Felix Rodriguez start the game on a rehab assignment. He worked two shutout innings with two walks and three strikeouts. But Bowie got their rally started against Jeff Karstens in the 4th Inning with an infield hit by 3B Joey Hammond that plated a run.

Bowie (45-46) then scored six runs in the 5th Inning, sending 10 batters to the plate. Two-run singles by LF Simon Pond and RF Woody Cliffords paced the inning. A two-run single by 2B Omar Rogers in the 6th Inning made it a 10-4 game.

Karstens (8-9) allowed seven runs on seven hits in 2 1/3 innings for the loss. Meanwhile, Bowie reliever Nick McCurdy worked 4 2/3 innings of shutout relief for the win. McCurdy (2-4) allowed one hit with five strikeouts and no walks.

The series continues on Saturday at 7:05 PM. Charlie Isaacson (5-3, 2.74) starts for Trenton against Bowie's Richard Stahl (0-3, 3.83).
