South Jersey Baseball: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 By Dan Loney The Eastern League of Professional Baseball announced their weekly honors for Player and Pitcher of the Week. Thunder RHP Chien-ming Wang received the honor as "Pitcher Of The Week" becoming the first Thunder pitcher to win the award in the 2004 season. The 24-year old native of Tainan, Taiwan received the award for the second time in the last two seasons. During the last seven days, Wang was 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA. He worked six innings against Portland on June 19th to a no-decision, allowing two runs (one earned) with one walk and six strikeouts. Wang then posted one of his best performances on Sunday against the Reading Phillies. He tossed seven shutout innings to help the Thunder to a 10-2 win. Wang allowed three hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts. He retired the final 14 batters faced in the game and 19 of his last 20 overall. Below are Wang's numbers for the season...
