South Jersey Baseball: Tuesday, April 20, 2004 By Dan Loney The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that Ereka Vetrini from The Apprentice, Heidi Strobel from Survivor Amazon and Tazz and Dawn Marie from the WWE will all be making appearances at Waterfront Park during the 2004 season. In addition, the NASCAR number 9, Cottman Transmissions racing car will also be on display for a game this season. “We are excited about hosting so many celebrities at the ballpark this year,” said Thunder General Manager Rick Brenner. “It’s a treat for the fans to be able to come out and see these Hollywood stars and entertainers up close and personal.” Tazz and Dawn Marie of the WWE Tazz has been a World Wrestling Entertainment Superstar since 1999 and is originally from Brooklyn, NY. Dawn Marie joined the WWE in 2002 and lives in Woodbridge, NJ. The pair will be on hand for autographs and photographs on the concourse during the game. The Thunder will take on the Double A Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies starting at 7:05. Ereka Vetrini of The Apprentice and Heidi Stobel of Survivor Amazon Ereka Vetrini appeared on The Apprentice with Donald Trump which aired on NBC in the spring of 2004. She currently lives in New York City and has appeared on the cover of TV Guide and is in FHM Magazine. Heidi Stobel gained instant stardom after appearing in Survivor Amazon which aired on CBS in 2003. She is currently a physical education and health teacher in Missouri. The first 3,000 fans to the game that night will receive a Thunder poster courtesy of White Eagle Printing. The teams will play a doubleheader on May 12th to make up for the game on April 14 that was rained out. Cottman Transmissions #9 NASCAR Racing Car The Cottman Transmissions #9 NASCAR Racing Car is driven on the Nextel Cup Circuit by Jeff Burton. The Burton has made two starts in the #9 car this season including a second place finish at the Diamond Hill Plywood Co. 200 at Darlington Raceway on March 20. The car on display at Waterfront Park will be a real test car used by the Burton racing team and will be accompanied by video racing simulators where fans will be able to race for a chance to win a trip to the NASCAR race in Atlanta on October 30. Trenton is currently on a road trip to New Hampshire and Portland and will return to Waterfront Park on Friday, April 23rd to start a three-game series with the Reading Phillies. |
