South Jersey Baseball: Thunder Bobblehead Giveaway Lineup Set Don Mattingly, Babe Ruth and Derek Jeter Highlight 2004 Set… Thursday, January 29, 2004 By Dan Loney Trenton Thunder Baseball Club The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced the players who will be featured on the team’s seven Bobblehead Doll Giveaways this season. Former Yankees great Don Mattingly will be the first player featured on April 10. The Thunder promotional schedule will feature Bobblehead Doll Giveaways at the following games: Saturday, April 10 Don Mattingly Sunday, May 2 Babe Ruth Wednesday, May 19 Alfonso Soriano Wednesday, June 23 Bernie Williams in Trenton Thunder Uniform Wednesday, July 7 Chase That Golden Thunder Monday July, 12 Stump Merrill (Bobbing Belly Doll) Wednesday, August 25 Derek Jeter in Trenton Thunder Uniform All Bobblehead Giveaways are for the first 1,800 fans ages 6 and up. Fans are encouraged to arrive at the ballpark early. Gates open one hour prior to the start of the game. “Bobblehead Dolls continue to be popular collectibles with baseball fans everywhere,” said Thunder General Manager Rick Brenner. “We are very excited to be able to offer such a unique and fun collection of bobblehead dolls for our fans this year.” Some new additions to the Thunder promotional schedule include two “Nesting Doll” giveaways (May 16 & August 4), Teacher Awards Night (April 30), Thunder Lunch Box Night (August 17) and NFL Day/Fan Appreciation Day (August 29). Two of the most popular giveaways from last season, Baseball Gloves and Bats, are back in 2004. The team will host Kids Baseball Glove Days (May 1, July 11 & August 24), Thunder/Yankee Bat giveaways (April 24 & June 21), Thunder/Yankee Mini Bat Night (June 7) and Thunder Bat Night (August 15). In addition, the Thunder have 17 fireworks shows on the schedule. The Thunder will have three “Educational Day” games that will start at 11:00 AM (May 11, May 26 and June 9) and three “Camp Day” games that will start at 12:05 (July 7, August 3, and August 18). INDIVIDUAL GAME TICKETS GO ON SALE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2 Individual game tickets will be available to the public via phone, 609-394-3300, and over the Internet, www.trentonthunder.com, on February 2nd at 10 AM. Fans may purchase individual game tickets in person at Waterfront Park beginning on February 7th at 10 AM. The Thunder season opener is April 8 at 7:05 against the Erie SeaWolves (AA Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers). The team will host the annual Welcome North Dinner on April 7 at Angeloni’s Cedar Garden in Hamilton. Doors will open at 6:00 PM and dinner will be served at 6:30 PM.
