South Jersey Baseball: Thursday, September 9, 2004 By Don Delaney Cole Liniak and Wendell Magee each hit three run home runs in the top of the sixth inning to lead the Long Island Ducks to a 9-4 victory over the Camden Riversharks on Thursday night at Campbell’s Field. The six-run sixth inning broke open a close game that had Long Island leading 3-2 at the time. The Ducks struck first in the top of the first inning as Magee and Matt Garrick each singled home runs. The Riversharks were not ready to go away just yet as they scored a pair of runs in the third inning, which included a two-out RBI-single by right fielder Chris Wakeland. Long Island would grab the lead for good in the top of the fifth inning when Magee doubled home Pat Lennon. The Riversharks received home runs from Chris Widger and Dwight Maness in the eighth and ninth inning to finish off the scoring. The loss ended a four-game winning streak for the Riversharks at Campbell’s Field. Andy Shibilo evened his record at 3-3 as he allowed four hits and four earned runs in a complete game effort. Magee sparked the Ducks offense as he collected three hits, reached base four times and drove in five runs. Quincy Foster was the top offensive performer for the Riversharks as he had three hits in the losing effort. The Riversharks continue their 10-game homestand on Friday night when they begin a three-game series against the Nashua Pride at 6:35 p.m. It will be Jim Bullinger on the hill for Camden and southpaw Nate Teut for Nashua.
