South Jersey Baseball: Wednesday, September 1, 2004 By Don Delaney The Camden Riversharks struggles against the Somerset Patriots continued on Wednesday night at Campbell's Field with a 4-3 loss. The Riversharks are now 4-12 against the Patriots in 2004. The Riversharks were unable to plate the tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning as Somerset closer Rob Marquez struck out Quincy Foster and Brad Strauss to end the game. It was the fourth loss in the last five games for Camden, who now stand at 26-19 in the second half. Edgard Clemente got the scoring started for the Patriots in the top of the second inning when he hit a Ben Simon fastball over the wall in left field. After Somerset made it a 2-0 game in the third, the Riversharks scored their first run of the game in home half of the third. Trailing by three runs, 4-1, in the bottom of the eighth the Riversharks were able to make it a two run game as Ryan Jones singled home Quincy Foster. In the ninth the Riversharks had the scenario they wanted as Troy Cameron scored on an error by Somerset, while Rich Barrett stood just 90 feet away. Marquez then locked in and struck out Foster and Strauss to end the game. Rich Kelley got his sixth win of the year as he went seven innings and allowed one run, while striking out six. Ben Simon took the loss as he allowed all four Somerset runs over eight innings of work. Quincy Foster finished the game with two hits for Camden, while Victory Rodriguez had two hits for Somerset. The Riversharks and Somerset Patriots will be back at it tomorrow evening with at 6:35 game at Campbell’s Field. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 866-SHARKS-9 or visiting the Campbell’s Field ticket office during normal business hours.
