Bluefish Edge Surf To Keep Pace With Pride

The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Atlantic City Surf 3-1 at Sandcastle Stadium Wednesday night. The victory left the Bluefish in a first-place tie with Nashua for the second half championship in the North Division as Nashua defeated Somerset at Commerce Bank Park.

Trailing 1-0 in the eighth inning Bridgeport tied the game on a solo home run by Asbel Ortiz to right field off Surf reliever Rodney Dickinson. The Bluefish then took a 2-1 lead in the eighth on an RBI single by D.J. Boston that plated Jose Amado.

Bridegport added an insurance run in the ninth on an RBI double Hector Kuilan off Surf hurler Damon PonceDeLeon.

After a 50-minute rain delay in the middle of the sixth inning Atlantic City broke a scoreless tie on a sacrifce fly RBI from Dario Delgado which scored Garry Johnson.

Luis Arroyo, 10-10, picked up the victory for the Bluefish; 70-52 overall and 32-27 in the second half.

Dickinson, 4-5, took the loss for the Surf as Atlantic City fell to 70-52 overall and 32-27 in the second half.

The two teams meet for the final time in the reagular season on Thursday night at the Sandcastle where Bridgeport’s Tim Cain will face Atlantic City’s Archie Corbin. Game time is 6:35 p.m.
