South Jersey Baseball: Tuesday, August 31, 2004 By Chuck Betson The Atlantic City Surf defeated the Somerset Patriots, 4-3 in Somerset on Tuesday night. Surf starter Rob Corrado earned the win after pitching 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and striking out 5. Reliever Ned Darley earned the save, his 3rd. Patriots starter Cam Smith struck out 9 Surf batters in his 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits. Chad Ricketts suffered the loss, allowing 2 runs in his 1.1 innings. Surf outfielder Al Benjamin went 4-for-4 and drove in a run. Ben Candelaria and David Housel had an RBI apiece. The Surf return home to the Sandcastle to take on the Long Island Ducks on Saturday for fireworks night courtesy of NovaCare. On Sunday it will be a doubleheader between the Surf and Ducks with the first game beginning at 4:05pm and fireworks following the second game. |
