Surf Fall to Patriots in Ten

The Atlantic City Surf lost in ten innings to the Somerset Patrtiots 3-2 in Somerset on Monday night. The Patriots jumped out to an early lead, 1-0 in the top of the first. The Surf tied the game at one with David Housel's sacrifice fly to score Al Benjamin. In the eighth, Dario Delgado doubled off the left field wall to score Raul Marval and the Surf had a 2-1 lead.

However, in the bottom half of the eigth, Victor Rodriguez's RBI single tied the game once more. In the tenth with the bases loaded and nobody out, it was once again Victor Rodriguez at the plate. Rodriguez hit a bouncer to shortstop Marval, but Marval's throw to the plate was wide and the Jorge Diaz scored the winning run. Surf starter Andy Zwirchitz pitched 6 innings allowing only a run in the first. Ivan Montane suffered the loss. Somerset received a strong outing from starter Justin Jensen who went 6.1 innings, surrendering just one run. The winning pitcher was Paul Darnell.

SURF TO HOLD SECOND FATHER''S FANTASY CAMP

After the positive response to the Surf''s Father’s Day Fantasy Camp, the Surf have announced they will hold another Fantasy Camp on September 18th. The camp, which invites men to come out and relive their glory days on the baseball diamond, was a big hit in June. The camp begins at 9:00 when the men are separated into teams. They will play with the Atlantic League’s South Division First Half Champion Surf players and coaches throughout the morning and into the early afternoon. The cost of the camp is $75 and includes a jersey, Surf hat, and 4 tickets to that night’s game against the Camden Riversharks.
