South Jersey Baseball: Wednesday, August 25, 2004 By Chuck Betson The Atlantic City Surf defeated the Somerset Patriots 8-4 at Sandcastle Stadium on Wednesday night to move into first place. The Surf used five effective innings from starter Andy Zwirchitz. He allowed three runs and nine hits while striking out six to pick up the win. Gary Johnson, Dario Delgado, and Wil Quintana each went deep for the Surf. Johnson and Delgado drove in two runs apiece and David Housel collected three hits. Patriots’ starter Justin Jensen allowed six runs, five earned, and seven hits in five innings to suffer the loss. Left fielder Chris Lemonis went four for four and Emiliano Escandon drove in two runs. The Surf will welcome the Camden Riversharks to the Sandcastle tomorrow night for a three game series, each game begins at 6:35pm. The first 1,500 fans will receive a ball cap courtesy of Atlantic City International Airport. Rob Corrado will throw for the Surf against the Riversharks. |
