South Jersey Baseball: Saturday, July 24, 2004 By Chuck Betson The Atlantic City Surf swept the Long Island Ducks for the second straight time at home with their 3-2 win on Saturday night at Sandcastle Stadium. The Surf now take their four game win streak on the road after finishing their homestand 6-2. The Surf received another strong start, this time courtesy of Mark Brownson. He went seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Rodney Dickinson and Conor Brooks each pitched a scoreless inning of relief, with Brooks earning his 15th save. Third baseman Dario Delgado went three-for-four and drove in a run. First baseman Jose Velazquez had two hits and two RBI including driving in the game winning run in the sixth. Ducks’ starter Bill Pulsipher went the full eight innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out seven. Kimera Bartee and Doug Jennings each had a hit and drove in a run. The Surf will go on the road for six games, their first stop will be at Bridgeport for a three game series against the Bluefish. The team will return home on Saturday to take on the Nashua Pride. Fireworks will follow the 6:35pm game and it is Ladies Night at the Sandcastle as the first 1,000 ladies will receive a carnation thanks to Maeflowers of Margate. |
