South Jersey Baseball: Sunday, June 13, 2004 By Chuck Betson Ray Davis threw an outstanding complete game Sunday to lead the Surf over the Long Island Ducks 5-1 at Citibank Park. Davis allowed just one run on three hits. He struck out five and retired 22 of the last 23 Ducks he faced on his way to his first victory of the season. Duck's starter Manny Ulloa had pitched a perfect game through five innings, but the Surf were finally able to get to him for three runs in the sixth. The big blow was a "Meatball" Heath two-run double. Heath finished the day 2-4, driving in three runs and stealing his league-leading nineteenth base. Ryan Minor collected his seventh home run of the season as well. The Surf will look to take the rubber-game of the series Monday night. Marty Barnett(2-2) will take on Lance Davis(3-3). First pitch is set for 7:05. You can catch all the action with Mike Wolverton on 1490, "The Game". |
