South Jersey Baseball: Wednesday, June 2, 2004 By Chuck Betson Atlantic City split a double-header with Somerset on Tuesday night, with each game lasting seven innings. The Surf won Game 1, 7-2, behind a complete game from Kyle Goldwater (1-0). In seven innings, Goldwater allowed seven hits, a walk, and fanned seven. The Surf scored twice in the first and four more times in the sixth. The sixth inning featured RBI hits from Ozzie Timmons, Raul Marval and Gary Johnson. The Patriots took the nightcap, 7-1. The Surf had trouble with Somerset starter Mike Spiegel, and managed just three hits over the seven innings. The Patriots scored four runs in the fourth, with two RBIs each for Norm Hutchins and Victor Rodriguez. The Surf have one more at Somerset, Wednesday night at 7:05. The Surf return home Thursday to take on Rickey Henderson and the Newark Bears, with the first pitch at 6:35. |
