South Jersey Baseball: Monday, May 24, 2004 By Chuck Betson Jeff Farnsworth went 7 and a third innings Sunday afternoon at Campbell's Field against the Camden Riversharks. He allowed just two runs, one earned, and walked none to raise his record to 2-0. Damon Ponce Deleon finished the eighth for Farnsworth by striking out the two batters he faced and Conor Brooks struck out three in the ninth to collect his second save of the season. Sunday's victory was the final game of a three-game series in Camden and raised the Surf record to 7-7. It was an Orlando Miller three-run home run in the third off Camden starter Brett Laxton that broke the game open. Dario Delgado had a solo home run and "Meatball" Heath had three stolen bases to go with a run scored. The Surf will return to the Sandcastle on Tuesday night to take on the defending Atlantic League champion Somerset Patriots. Wednesday night's game will be followed by fireworks sponsored by NovaCare. Thursday will be an 11:05 AM first pitch. You can catch all the action at the Sandcastle or with Mike and Mike on 1490, "The Game". |
