South Jersey Baseball: Sunday, May 23, 2004 By Chuck Betson Andy High fell victim to two timely home runs tonight as the Riversharks beat the Surf 7-1 at Campbell's Field in Camden. High was cruising until the third inning when a one-out walk set the stage for Quincy Foster''s first home run of the year. In the fifth Kevin Jordan hit a two-out, three-run homer that just stayed fair as it hugged the left-field line. That would prove enough as Evan Thomas would go seven innings for Camden, yielding just one run on Chad Alexander's sixth-inning single. He drove in "Meatball" Heath who had singled and stolen second. The loss drops the Surf record to 6-7. The Surf will get another shot at the South Division leaders tomorrow as they send Jeff Farnsworth to the mound to face Brett Laxton. First pitch will be 1:35 and you can catch all of the action with Mike and Mike on 1490, "The Game". The Surf return to the Sandcastle on Tuesday to open a three game set with the defending Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots. Wednesday's game will be followed by fireworks, sponsored by NovaCare. Thursday will be a School Special with the first pitch at 11:05 AM. |
