South Jersey Baseball: Friday, May 7, 1999
By Bob Stewart On Tuesday night, at Berlin Township, there were three games being played. It was a nice night for the games as they were played on three fields. On the tee-ball field was the rookie softball with Berlin Township #2 vs. Clementon #2. On the minor league field, the Vikings Yachts played CJ Watson Electric. On the major league field, Chesilhurst played Berlin Township's Red Team. The minor league game between the Viking Yachts and CJ Watson Electric was a very exciting game. Both teams had good pitching and hitting as the game ended in a 6-6 tie. The major league game between Chesilhurst and Berlin Township Red was a slugfest. Both teams hit the ball all over the field and even out of the park. The game ended with Chesilhurst defeating the Berlin Township team 11 to 10. On Friday night, the major league game had Berlin Township's Red Team vs. the Gray Team. This time the Red Team won by the score of 10 to 9. In the top of the last inning (7th), with two on and two outs, the second baseman for the Red Team made a great catch to keep the score Gray 9 to Red 8. In the bottom of the inning, the Red Team scored 2 runs with 2 outs to win this very exciting game. Photos by Boog Williams
