Thunder Stay in "Wild Card" Lead with 12th Inning Win Wednesday, August 24, 2005 By Dan Loney Bronson Sardinha's sacrifice fly in the 12th Inning scored Ramiro Pena with the go-ahead run in a 4-3 win by the Trenton Thunder on Wednesday over the Portland Sea Dogs. The win was the fourth straight for the Thunder, keeping them 1/2 game ahead of New Hampshire in the "wild card" race. Trenton (66-64) trailed 2-0 into the 7th Inning. Portland scored twice in the 1st Inning off starter Eric Schmitt on RBI singles by Hanley Ramirez and Jeremy West. |

Thunder Pound Out 16 Hits in 11-6 Win Tuesday, August 23, 2005 By Dan Loney The bottom third of the Trenton batting order combined for seven hits and six runs scored to lead Trenton to an 11-6 win over Portland on Tuesday. The Thunder collected their first three-game win streak since mid-July with the victory. After Portland scored the first run, Trenton came back to score the next seven runs in the 3rd and 4th Innings off starter Anibal Sanchez. 3B J.T. Stotts (2 x 4, 3 R, 2 RBI) singled and later scored on a wild pitch. RF Bronson Sardinha added an RBI single for a 2-1 lead. |

Thunder Reclaim "Wild Card" with 5-2 Win Monday, August 22, 2005 By Dan Loney The Trenton Thunder got a 1st Inning home run from Michael Coleman and seven strong strong innings from Jeff Karstens en route to a 5-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in Eastern League play on Monday. The win for Trenton, combined with a New Hampshire loss, moves the Thunder back into 2nd Place and into the "wild card" lead with 14 games remaining. |
