High School Football: Saturday, December 4, 2004 By Jerome Michaels Every team faces challenges during the regular season and especially during the playoffs. For the Flashes from Florence, another challenge of facing an unfamiliar opponent during the Group playoffs tests the coaching staff’s ability to adapt. It seemed that Florence was able to execute their game plan against New Providence during the Central Jersey Group 1 title game at the Pit. Florence erased an early deficit and stream rolled past the Pioneers to pick up their second straight championship. Florence has now won 24 straight games with their 35-7 victory. |
High School Football: Saturday, December 4, 2004 By Vincent Lewis There’s much to say about a team winning a championship and trying to defend that title could be considered a very tough uphill battle. Teams always have to compensate for the loss of graduating seniors, coaching changes and sometimes injuries. The Spartans from Deptford High School could be entered into this category and their amazing quest to repeat relied on them coming away with a victory against a determined Moorestown football squad. In a very entertaining South Jersey Group 3 championship game, Deptford’s late fourth quarter touchdown run by DaJuane Collins was the deciding score against the Quakers. Deptford captured their second straight title with their 28-21 victory. |

High School Football: Friday, December 3, 2004 By Jerome Michaels There's a lot to be said about a team who has made it to a championship game and then come away with the victory. Both of these teams in tonight’s South Jersey Group IV championship game have a bit of experience with winning and losing that final game. Last year, Washington Township was that team in the finals but coming away with the tough loss to Eastern. This year, the Renegades from Shawnee quickly erased any doubts of capping off an undefeated season with a victory at home against the Minutemen. Three first half touchdowns were more than enough to post a 26-13 win to finish the season with a 12-0 record. |
