High School Softball: Thursday, April 24, 2003 By Susan Hall Paul VI was looking to end a five game winless streak. The Lady Eagles suffered a one run loss to Kingsway in a non-league game. Holy Cross also recently felt the jaws of defeat losing a 1-0 game against Deptford. In another non-league competition on their schedule, one of these teams finally was on the winning side of a close game. Kristie Gola would pitch a shutout for the Lancers and defeat Paul VI 2-0. Alaina Giles would come through with the big hit in the sixth inning. |
High School Baseball: Wednesday, April 23, 2003 By Jerome Michaels Cherry Hill West has been rolling through their schedule that includes wins at several tournaments. Starting out with a winning streak, West could contribute their success to good coaching, strong pitching and some timely big hits. Rewarded for their hard work, West has been labeled as one of the top teams in South Jersey. Camden Catholic has heard all about their opponent's success and still went on to play the game they knew they could play. With a four run deficit, the Irish scored five unanswered runs to defeat Cherry Hill West by an 8-7 margin. |
Event Spotlight: Wednesday, April 23, 2003 By Greg WileyPhiladelphia Charge Correspondent Midfielder Lorrie Fair announced today that she is going to attempt to play for the U.S. Women's National Team and the Philadelphia Charge on the same day this Saturday, April 26 when the U.S. plays Canada at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC beginning at noon (ET) and the Charge face the Boston Breakers at 7 p.m. (ET) at Nickerson Field in Boston. |
