High School Boys Basketball: Saturday, January 16, 1999

Mark Groark was the player with the shooter's touch in the first half for the Highland Tartans. He had 19 points at the break to lead his team over Paul VI. Highland went on a 10-0 run late in the third and early into the fourth quarter to defeat the Eagles 60-55 in an Olympic Conference meeting. Highland (7-2) rebounded from their loss to Bishop Eustace.

High School Girls Basketball: Saturday, January 16, 1999

Teams go through their practice drills preparing themselves for game time situations. Take for instance, free throws, which proved to be the difference in Saturday's non-league girl's basketball game. Cherry Hill East hosted a very talented Willingboro team and converted 10 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to get past their opponent. The Lady Cougars were able to pull away and defeat Willingboro 45-36.

High School Ice Hockey: Friday, January 15, 1999

Washington Township rallied from a two goal deficit to defeat Cherry Hill East 4-3 in a SJHSIHL game. This was played Friday night at Hollydell, which Township won despite a natural hat trick by East's Chad Gunther. Township scored first as Joey Gori scored an unassisted goal to get the 1-0 lead with just over three minutes played. However Gunther scored a shorthanded goal to tie the score at 1-1 with just forty seconds left in the period.

In a SJHSIHL game played on Friday night at Hollydell, Clearview totally dominated Edgewood, winning by a score of 7-1. Clearview had a lot of players contribute as six different players scored with Rob Coble tallying two.

With much of the success Camden Catholic was having during the 1999 season, the boy's basketball team was going up against a determined Washington Township team. The Irish defeated Camden at home last week and caught a lot of people's attention. They continued their winning ways by holding off Washington Township 64 to 57 in an Olympic Conference game.
