High School Basketball:
By Art Redd Highland was out to prove that they could take their new team and show the Panthers that they could play against one of South Jersey's top teams. Coach Harold Little had a strong season last year for the Tartans and a win would get the 1998 season started on a good note.
But it was Coach Clarence Turners' Panthers who would finally come together in the second half to post an 88-71 victory. Dujuan Wagner ran the floor well and Aaron Stephens drained in 37 points for Camden High School.

High School Wrestling:
By Art Redd With the new wrestling season under way, getting a victory on opening day would surely be a good start. After all the hard work training and preparation for these wrestlers, it was their chance to go into the 1998 wrestling season with a opponent instead of a teammate.
Edgewood hosted St. Joseph in a non-league match and gave the home crowd alot to cheer for with a 42-26 victory. This was a good start for Coach Jim Ingles and his Eagles whose team finished with a 14-5 overall record last year.

High School Ice Hockey:
By Michael Cowart The Edgewood ice hockey team has a long road ahead of them this season to make it to the playoffs. Last season the team blasted almost everyone they faced and surprised the entire league by making it to the playoffs for the first time in four years. In fact, they made it all the way to the semi-final round where they lost to Shawnee, who would eventually go on to win the championship.
Now a new season has started and the team is looking to improve even further and with any luck, win it all. At the start of the season, luck wasn't exactly on their side. The team has just come off an outstanding preseason. With a record of 2-1-1, it seemed like the Eagles were picking up where they left off last season. Then came the regular season and their first opponent, Lenape.
